Bed Bugs in Las Vegas

← Pest Library

Bed bugs don’t come from dirt. They come from travel: hotel rooms, luggage, used furniture, and shared walls. With as much travel as Las Vegas sees, bed bugs are a common problem here.

Signs of bed bugs

  • Small rust-colored or dark spots on mattress seams and sheets
  • Tiny shed skins and pale eggs in seams and crevices
  • Live bugs about the size of an apple seed
  • Itchy bites, often in a line or cluster, that appear overnight

They hide close to where people sleep and sit: mattress seams, box springs, headboards, couches, and along baseboards.

Bed bugs aren’t a sign of a dirty home. Anyone can bring them back from a trip.

What our treatment does

We inspect to confirm it’s bed bugs and find every area they’re hiding, treat the infested rooms, and follow up to make sure they’re gone.

What treatment can’t do

We’ll be straight with you: bed bugs are rarely solved in one visit. Eggs can survive the first treatment and hatch later, which is why follow-up matters. Moving furniture or sleeping in another room before treatment can spread them to new areas.

What actually helps

  • Don’t move things around. Keep infested bedding, furniture, and clothes where they are until treatment.
  • Use the dryer. Run clothes and bedding on high heat for at least 30 minutes.
  • Encase the mattress. A zippered bed bug encasement traps any bugs inside and makes new ones easier to spot.
  • Skip the bug bombs. Foggers don’t reach where bed bugs hide and can push them into walls and other rooms.

Common questions

How do I check a hotel room for bed bugs?

Pull back the sheets and check the mattress seams and corners, especially near the headboard, for dark spots, shed skins, or live bugs. Keep your luggage on a rack or in the bathroom, not on the bed or floor.

Can bed bugs live in my car or office?

They can travel in bags, coats, and furniture, so it’s possible, but they do best where people sleep or sit for long stretches. Most infestations center on bedrooms and couches.

Do bed bugs spread disease?

Bed bugs aren’t known to spread disease. Their bites can itch, scratching can lead to skin infections, and an infestation can cause real stress and lost sleep.

Tips and tricks

Check your hotel room before you unpack. It takes two minutes and can save you a lot of trouble.

  • Put your luggage in the bathroom or on the luggage rack, not on the bed or floor.
  • Pull back the sheets and check the mattress seams and corners with your phone’s flashlight.
  • Look behind the headboard if you can.
  • When you get home, unpack straight into the washer and dry everything on high heat.
